Lola's back online

Hi everyone, sorry I have not been blogging lately but Pops has been in bed with a bad back, and I cannot turn the computer on without him at the moment.
Anyway I will try to catch up as much as I can.
The week before last I went to see my great grandparents in Horton with Nannie Sue & Grandad Bob.

Here you can see me with my Great Grandmother Barbara
On Saturday I took my first trip to the Bell & Crown pub to surprise Great Grandma Glenys and her friend Margeruite, below you can see me with Margeruite before they had their dinner.

This week, on Wednesday, Daddy went back to work. I thought I heard him say that he was going for some peace and quiet, whatever that means. Anyway, it means Mummy and I don't have to get up so early, we can have what Mummy calls "lie ins", but she told me we musn't tell Daddy. It's really good, and when we do get up we can watch what we want on telly !!
The lady has been around to see Mummy and me again and she said we were both doing really well. She weighed me again and I am now 8lb 5oz which the lady said was very good. Mummy is also very well, and she has really got the hang of this mother and baby lark, I'm a really lucky girl. Daddy's really good too, 'cos he's still an ace with the nappy changing and I still can't phase him however much I try. ( Come on kids, I need some help on some mischief I can cause in this department, if you know of any).
On Thursday Mummy and I went to visit Pops at home, as he still had a bad back, and also Grandma Jenny as she had a days holiday. I met Oliver, our doggie too, as he has been staying with Grandma and Pops since I was born. He was really cool! I think Ollie and I will get on fine, and I can see a good team forming here, I can't wait to see what Ollie and I will get up to together.

This is me on Thursday thinking about what Ollie and I could get up to.

This is me on Thursday.
Daddy is picking Ollie up today, Saturday, to bring him home so we are going to go for our first walk together as a "family". I've heard people say that Ollie is my brother, but I'm not too sure because he seems to have a lot more hair than I have, although people do say he has Mummy's colouring!
I will update again soon to let you know how we are all getting on, bye bye for now, luv Lola xx

First Lessons learned.

I knew I would have to learn a few lessons in my first weeks, and I believe these lessons have started.
You might remember me mentioning the nice lady Nicky who comes to weigh me and see that I am OK. Well, lesson No 1, don't let your guard drop just because you thought they were nice.
When she came on Monday, we were having our friendly "oogy googy goo" banter, when "WHOAH!!" the next thing I know a blinking great needle goes right into my heel for some "heel prick test". I was very brave and didn't cry though, but if I ever hear someone say "they are going to do something for my own good", I'll be ready next time. I think it must have been quite bad because they had to bandage me up as you can see below.

Lesson No 2
While we were in bed the other night talking, feeding, screaming, feeding, I wondered what makes Mummies & Daddies all over the world have little people like me and my friends.
Well I think I found out the other day when we drove into this great big car park and I heard Daddy say to Mummy, " This makes it all worth while, we can now park in the parent & baby spaces and not walk half a mile to the shop".
"SHOP"!! I looked up, I saw a big red sign, TESCO. This was it, I remember being told in the hospital that when you go to TESCO, they put you in some rickety metal basket contraption, which veers from one side to the other, and usually bumps up and down because it has a flat spot on one of the wheels, and then the best bit, when you enter the shop you SCREAM & SCREAM & SCREAM so that all the 100's of shoppers can hear, 'cos apparently they love to hear a baby's voice.
Well I'm sorry to say I well and truly blew it, see below.

Sorry to all you baby's out there I'll try harder next time.

Lesson 3
Nappy Changing !! The other night Pops came up to watch my Daddy change my nappy.
I was proud of this one and glad Pops was there to witness it, and I think we both knew we could have fun with this one.
I knew I was expected to make it hard for Daddy, so I thought I would put in a big effort especially as I had an audience. First I thought I'd scream while Daddy undressed me, no reaction, so I thought I'd throw my arms and legs around, again no reaction, then my chance came, there I was no clothes on and one heavily soiled nappy at my feet, I looked at Pops and I think he could read my mind because as I brought my foot down into the nappy he warned Daddy who whisked it away just in time. The last throw of the dice was if I could roll of the changing mate at great height onto the floor, then I remembered I didn't know how to roll.
So I have learned that as my Daddy is pretty brilliant at changing nappies, I'll have to think of something else.
Anyway afterwards Daddy and I had a good laugh about it as you can see below.

And here's a photo of my Mummy looking after me too, I'm soooooo lucky to have these two to look after me, I know we're going to enjoy learning all these lessons together.

Weekend Travels

Wow that was some weekend for a little girl.
Saturday afternoon I met my cousin Aurora, my Uncle Mark's little girl, she great, she calls me "Girl Super Baby", we'll get on fine. They came with Nanny Sue and Grandad Rob.
In the evening Ruth came round to see us, but what a disappointment NO Maxwell.

On Sunday I went to Horton to Nanny & Grandad's for Dinner, I didn't have as much as the grown ups, mainly because I was stuck in my chair while they were eating, and it's hard to reach the table for a little girl.
But at least I did get to where my first Sunday best.

Friday 11th
Things are going to plan, I'm sleeping well in the day, getting fed when I let Mum know I'm ready.
Dad get's me dressed in the mornings, and we decide between the two of us what I should wear, and then go in and surprise mummy.

Was I glad we chose well today.
Today Mummy's friend Ruth came round to see me and with her was her little boy Maxwell.
Well !! Girl babes I tell you, Max was one cool dude!! He would rock any girl's moses basket. When I grow up, you remember, I saw him first.
Nicky, the nice lady, Mum say's she's a mid-wife, came to see me today, more pulling, poking and weighing.
Tonight Nanny Sue, Grandad Rob, Grandma Jenny and Pops came round to see me.

As you can see I made out I was asleep, but I could here what they were saying as I was being passed around. It was like pass the parcel at a kid's party, still nobody's dropped me yet.
Still, keep in with the "Grandies", I've been told, and life will be doddle.

Thursday Day 3

Settling in nicely now, nice pad we have here, Mum & Dad have been busy with my room, though I might have to have a word later about getting the "wheels" out, it's a girl's nursery after all, not a garage!!
Now I might only be a few days old, but why is it Mum & Dad can't get this sleeping thing sorted, when I don't seem to have any problem. You sleep in the day, and then we keep each other company at night, and now and again we have a feed, it can't be that hard surely.
I must admit I'm missing the "womb music" a bit, but they had some really cool relaxing music in the hospital, and I swear I heard a whale calling out at some point, I was a bit worried it was in the birthing pool, but it was nowhere to be seen when I popped out.
Nanny Sue and Uncle Mark came to see me in the afternoon and then Grandma Jenny brought Great Nanny Glenys to see me.

Wow, I want a frock like that when I get older.
Tonight we had a quiet night and we went to bed early so we could play and scream.

Wednesday Day 2

Wow, that was some tiring day yesterday, didn't think I'd be up for doing too much today.
I had a feeling Mum & Dad wanted to go home, but some lady kept saying that they couldn't until I had a good feed. Well I was dog tired, so I made them wait, and wait, and wait, until I had had my sleep.

Well, I decided in the afternoon to give in and take a feed so everyone could get on with what they had to do, so we could all come home.
Thinking back, may have been my first decision but definitely not going to be one of my best.
Before I knew it, I was bundled into lots of clothes, I think my arms were probably twisted round 2 or 3 times just to get into a sleeve. Still I here these things get better in time.
That was not the worst thing to happen, then they had this great idea of sticking me in this seat contraption to get me home, not content with that I was made to wear a hat!!

Now you can see what I mean.
If anyone had seen me I would've been so embarassed.
Anyway, not a bad journey home, I must say it was a lot quieter than going, someone in the car was making one heck of a lot of noise the day before.

In the evening I met up with the grandparents.
Now I'd heard a bit about the "Grandies" over the last nine months, so now was my first time to really suss them out. It's right kids what they say, not too sure how easy it will be with Nanny Sue and Grandma Jenny, but Grandpa Rob and Pops are going to be a piece of cake.
I know it, one day in and I've reeled them in, they're hooked, I have them twisted round my little fingers, oh this is going to be sooooooo easy!!!

MY FIRST DAY

Wow, what a day that was!!
One minute I was all nice and cosy in the warm, minding my own business listening to the "Womb Music", the next, SPLASH!!, here I am trying to swim to the surface of some great birthing pool, no nose clip, no armbands, nothing.
The one good thing about this was as soon as I reached the surface, I had to take a breath and let them know I was here, none of that bum slapping for me.
Someone, never seen her before, then placed me on my mum, boy was I glad to see her.
I didn't say anything, but looked as if she'd had a bit of a hard day, hadn't bothered much with the makeup I thought at first glance. When I looked around I saw my Dad and Grandma Jenny looking down at me, looked as if they had had better days too.
Anyway, another good thing about this water birth lark is they don't have to clean you much, so you can get on with the first meal of the day, lovely.
After that, I thought I'd have a bit of a sleep for the rest of the night, all this mucking about and weighing in and everything tires a girl out you know.
